Dr. Dunnington is a native of Waverly, Virginia. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and then obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Rheumatology at the Medical College of Virginia. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Dunnington founded Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater in 1977. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Chief of Staff and President of the Medical Staff at Virginia Beach General Hospital. He has also served as President of the Tidewater Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and President of the Virginia Beach Forum. He is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology and the Virginia Society of Rheumatologists.
